Doug Gallo is a music producer, mixing/mastering engineer and songwriter from New Jersey.

Doug has been playing instruments and capturing sounds with microphones since he was a kid. In high school, Doug would record punk bands in his parent’s basement. In his early 20’s, Doug began touring and playing guitar for multiple bands, all while juggling college for a Music Business degree and feeding into his hobby of recording. Around 25, Doug decided to pursue recording arts full time.

During his journey, Doug would assist and intern with several great engineers that influenced his style including Kevin Antreassian (The Dillinger Escape Plan/Backroom Studios), Adam Cichocki (Gatherers/Timber Studios) and more. In 2016, Doug began working at the legendary Trax East, where many of his favorite hardcore and punk records were tracked. Trax would also contribute to shaping his style and sound - leaning on lots of outboard gear and the analog workflow would be come the norm for him after putting in time here.

After Trax East closed, Doug and a few friends opened their own studio in New Brunswick, NJ, where they ended up recording over 20 albums and 50 live sessions in the first year alone. During the pandemic in 2020, Doug would cross paths with producer Adam Vaccarelli and eventually begin working out of Retromedia Sound in Red Bank, NJ where now Gallo calls his home base.

Doug strives to help bands and artists channel their full potential with accessibility and comfort at the forefront of his practice. He works day and night to continually develop his skills and craft memorable records. In a 2020 interview with The Digest, Tula Vera named Doug, “the hardest working man in the Jersey music community. His musicianship, audio engineering precision, and production mastery are second only to the generosity, compassion, open mindedness, devotion, and drive he exhibits as a professional and as an individual.”

He has accumulated a large community of working relationships including collaborations with incredible artists like Jared Milian, Hit Like A Girl, Tula Vera, Bartees Strange, Caracara, LKFFCT, Blaise, Hodera, Mandancing, Foxanne, Greet Death, Skylar Pocket and many more.

When he’s not working on records, Doug enjoys writing his own music, mountain biking, cooking, and hanging out with his cat.
